DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: South Africa (various provinces)
Duration: 18 months

Jumbo Clothing is offering a Business Management Internship to TVET/ FET graduates who have an NQF-6 in Business Management and are interested in gaining practical experience in the Retail sector. The programme will allow candidates to experience practical and in-depth workplace training as well as gain the necessary experience needed to obtain their Diplomas.

During the programme, the candidate will be exposed and trained in the following departments within Retail:

  • Store Manager for 2 months
  • Cashier for 4 months
  • Shop Assistant for 4 months
  • Assistant Store Manager for 4 months
  • Admin Controller for 4 months

Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Visual Merchandising: Providing assistance in all departments with merchandising and ensuring that housekeeping is maintained regularly
  • Sales: Ensuring that all sales opportunities are exploited by implementing all marketing promotions as well as provide a first-class service to customers by understanding their needs and requirements
  • Customer Service: Ensuring that an environment where customers can have a pleasant experience is created as well as promoting customer service
  • Point of Sale procedures: Ensuring that all tasks and activities associated with cashiering is processed and, seeing to general applications and recording registers in accordance with the routine of point of sale cashier activities (the intern will be trained in software and in-house systems)
  • Administration: Performing administrative tasks associated with the Admin Controller, such as filing, general administration, and cash handling
  • Staff Management: Assigning employees to certain tasks based on job descriptions, plans, goals, and to-do lists as well as managing their performance under the guidance and assistance of the Store Manager
  • Performance Evaluation: Here, the store manager will submit a quarterly, summarised report, detailing the graduate’s performance and abilities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:
Stakeholder & Communications Internship:

  • Must be a South African Citizen
  • Must have completed an N6 certificate in Business Management
  • Must have completed the qualification at a TVET or FET College
  • Must NOT have a criminal record
