ABOUT THE COMPANY PROVIDING THE LEARNERSHIP:

JA South Africa, established in 1979, creates a platform for members of South Africa’s youth to gain Entrepreneurial skills, Financial Literacy, as well as Workplace readiness. JA South Africa has many programmes available to various age groups, from programmes open to 8-year-old primary school goers, high schoolers, as well as graduated school youth.

JA South Africa believes that the answer to an increase of employment in South Africa is to enhance the small business sector and develop entrepreneurship- through this, they aim to nurture entrepreneurial and business skills within the youth of the country, who will one day become the future leaders.

DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: South Africa (various locations)
Duration: 12 months

JA South Africa is offering a Youth Enterprise Development Programme. The aim of the programme is to equip candidates with the skills and knowledge needed to take the necessary steps to make their business dreams and goals a reality. This layered educational experience and incubator style programme will teach candidates how to establish their own sustainable business.
During the first 6 months of the programme, the candidate will learn how to run and start up a sustainable business through guidance, facilitation, and support, as well as be exposed to multiple entrepreneur concepts. Training during this programme will include case studies, site visits, as well as guest speakers. In the second half of the programme (once the course work is completed) the candidate will receive ongoing mentorship and support, as well as be introduced to various options that could fund their business-such as micro-finance institutions.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the candidate will obtain a JA South Africa, as well as an NQF-4 Services SETA accredited certificate.
During this programme you will learn how to:

  • Enhance their interpersonal skills and become a team-player
  • Develop time management skills
  • Gain an understanding of business ethics, planning, creation, and functions
  • Gain an understanding of market research, management, as well as operations planning
  • How to take full control of your finances
  • Establish your brand and market successfully
  • Handle any problems you face with professionalism
  • Make beneficial decisions in high pressured situations

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years old
  • Must have an excellent command of the English language (written and oral)
  • Must NOT be committed to any type of employment
  • Must NOT be a full-time student
  • Must be highly interested and passionate about starting a business
  • Must be a ‘self-starter’
  • Must be motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to contribute to the programme
  • Must be able to commit to the full duration of the course
