Do you have a passion for technology, mathematics, science or even electrical engineering?

Microsoft has a range of internships available as the company grows and a need develops within.  Some of their internship programs are only for a short period of up to 3 months, while others may span two years.  They have internship openings all across the globe, offering unique opportunities to gifted individuals.  Candidates will receive intense training while gaining great working experience.

Microsoft Internship Program Requirements

Applications for the Microsoft Internship Program are accepted yearly for a selection of internships.  These usually fill openings that arise within the company as a need develops. Internships will only be open on a – need – basis for research.  PhD and Post-Doctors interns will be available yearly.

Candidates will also be required to have the following:

  • Candidates must hold a valid Matric certificate
  • Candidates must be a South African citizen
  • Candidates must hold a valid ID book/card
  • Candidates must hold a PhD degree or Post-Doctorate from a recognized institute of higher learning
  • Candidates must hold this qualification within the selected discipline
  • Candidates must not hold any kind of criminal record
  • Candidates must be business-minded and have a passion to achieve their goals
  • Candidates must enjoy working as a team, but be able to work independently as well
  • Candidates must be MS Office, as well as computer literate, with an understanding of technology
  • Must be proficient in English (read, write & speak)

Microsoft Internship Program Application

Internships’ online application processes are made accessible during the year.  There are currently none available for South Africa, however, it is suggested to regularly check on the Microsoft Website and their Student Page for any developments during the year.  Or even apply for internships in other countries if they are available, and you are interested in travelling.  Please only request internship applications for the countries you are truly interested in.

Once your application has been submitted, you will receive confirmation via e-mail of Microsoft’s receipt.  Please note that they do receive multiple applications, and are not able to contact each and everyone via e-mail on the progress of their application.  If you are selected, they will, however, be in contact, thus if you do not hear anything, please accept your application as being unsuccessful.

Most of the internships offered by Microsoft could lead to full-time employment.  They aim to develop young talent with mentoring, and training in addition to community building, thus contributing to a strong long-term career.

Please note that incomplete applications will not be considered.  Be sure you attach all applicable certified documentation to your application, in addition to referral letters and a curriculum vitae.  The curriculum vitae should reflect your expertise and competencies along with your skills and interests.

Progress on your application can be viewed on the application page, candidates can simply log in and stay up to date with the entire process.  Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview, this will be the final stage of the process.
