East Coast Radio, owned by Kagiso Media (Pty), is KwaZulu-Natal’s largest commercial radio station with over 5 million audience members. As one of South Africa’s largest radio stations, East Coast Radio is broadcasted from Mpumalanga KwaZulu-Natal as well as from SABC studios in Durban. They are a leading host within the province, putting on major events such as Durban Day, Toy Drives, and Big Walks. East Coast Radio also has many sponsorship partnerships with sports teams such as The Sharks, AmaZulu, Super Rugby outfit, as well as The Sunfoil Dolphins.

DETAILS ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal
Duration: 12 months
Salary: basic stipend

East Coast Radio are inviting graduates to apply for the vacancy of “Audio Production Intern”. During the course of the 12 month programme, which will run from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022, interns will be exposed to the audio production field.
Key performance areas of the programme:

  • Assisting with On Air, & Brand Imaging Productions
  • Learning to read scripts and voice directing
  • Assisting with general operations of the production department
  • VOX pop recordings on the ground
  • Promoting a high-performance culture

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed a Diploma or Degree qualification in Sound Engineering (with emphasis on Production)
  • Must have completed a Radio Production qualification (advantageous but not essential)
  • Must have a code 8 Driver’s License
  • Must have knowledge of audio software (including Pro Tools)
  • Must have knowledge of Mac computer systems
  • Must have intimate knowledge of radio
  • Must have knowledge and experience with recording studio equipment (including most technologies)
  • Must be computer literate, with experience in MicroSoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Must be willing and able to research and stay updated with global trends
  • Must be able to execute scripts if requested
  • Must be organised
  • Must be able to meet deadline
  • Must have good time keeping skills
  • Must be able to work in a team and independently
  • Must not be committed to other fields of study
