DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: Cape Town, Western Cape
Duration: 12 months
Contract Type: Fixed-term
Number of positions available: 20

Hungry Lion is offering a learnership opportunity to unemployed candidates in Cape Town and its surrounding areas. This programme is open to 20 candidates and has been adapted for the fast-food industry, incorporating elements of service, food and drink preparation, health and safety, supervision, customer care, storage and stock management, whilst also covering elements of sub-fields within hospitality.

The programme will run for a duration of 12 months, commencing on 1 October 2021 and ending on 30 September 2022. The aim of the programme is to equip the candidates with the necessary skills and work experience to obtain an occupational qualification (NQF-3 in Fast Food Services.)

The candidates will also be offered potential employment at Hungry Lion after the completion of the programme.
Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Ensuing that you deliver exceptional customer service
  • Ensuring that all food orders are places and transactions are handled
  • Taking all customer’s food orders
  • Sell any promotions/ campaigns
  • Ensuring that the float is counted each day before shift, writing the amount in the book, and placing the float in the designated safe
  • Working the till/ P.O.S
  • Ensuring all equipment is switched on and ensuring that it is working properly
  • Ensuring that all chicken in cleaned and prepared
  • Managing the breading of chicken
  • Providing assistance with preparing food in the morning
  • Operating the cooking equipment manually and according to the specific procedures
  • Ensuring that all cooked chicken is handled correctly
  • Preparing meals for customers
  • Ensuring all equipment is switched on and working correctly
  • Packing all stock in accordance with Hungry Lion’s standards
  • Ensuring fridges are stocked with drinks
  • Ensuring that the store and all equipment is maintained and kept clean on a daily basis
  • Ensuring that the cooler is cleaned
  • Ensuring that the oil from the cooker is filtered daily
  • Correctly disposing of waste on designated areas and bins
  • Cleaning all staff toilets
  • Occasionally transporting paperwork to the Host Branch
  • Providing assistance with the display of promotional material
  • Ensuring that all promotional pamphlets are handled correctly
  • Ensuring that all instructions given to you by management are followed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 29 years old
  • Must reside within Cape Town
  • Must be unemployed
  • Must NOT be enrolled in any other learnership programmes
  • Must be able to commit to the full duration of the programme
  • Must be fluent in English (oral and written)
