DETAILS ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME:

Location: East London, Eastern Cape

Ampath Laboratories is offering a Learnership opportunity to a young candidate interested in becoming a Microbiology Technician. The job grade is Grade 14 and the programme will require 40 weekly hours of work on a full-time basis.

The candidate’s main purpose in this role will be to perform bench work in line with the criteria and standards on all the benches in the Microbiology Laboratory and media department.
Key Performance Areas of the Programme:

  • Promoting the image of Ampath
  • Ensuring that you maintain excellent client relations
  • Providing assistance with maintaining the best practice within the laboratory by performing general tasks
  • Ensuring that all receiving and resulting tasks on the Meditech System are performed to ensure the correct preparation, handling, and recording of results and specimens
  • Ensuring sufficient delivery of results by processing specimens on benches

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO APPLY:

Before applying, please ensure that you meet ALL of the following minimum entry criteria – failure to satisfy all the requirements will result in your application being disqualified:

  • Must have a valid South African Identity Document or Work Permit
  • Must have completed Matric (NSC)
  • Must have passed English, Life Sciences, and Mathematics as subjects in Matric
  • Must have completed an HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field
  • Must have knowledge of HPCSA regulations
  • Must have knowledge of Meditech System
  • Must have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA)
  • Must be driven and dedicated
